It’s important to change your routine as soon as you notice even slight differences to it. I got in touch with Jacqui from Accentuate Hair and Makeup to get some tips to nourish ourselves this winter, this is what she had to say.

As your skin loses more natural oils and becomes drier and dehydrated you will need to compensate by changing your skincare routine.

Even if you are oily, you will still need to ensure your skin is well cared for and nourished. Oily skins will benefit from a lotion rather than a cream.

Drier and more mature skins will need to change to a heavier duty cream and of course eye and face serums. Remember to keep you lips nice and hydrated too, lipstick never looks good on dry lips.

Exfoliate twice a week to get rid of all the dead skin and allow your nourishing products to sink in – this goes for face and body.

Up your water intake, a well hydrated body really does plump out the fine lines and enhance your natural glow.

These are a selection of images that I liked the most from a shoot that I did for Cornetto Ice Cream in January this year. The water was freezing as it was shot in Cape Town on a particularly dismal morning (thank goodness the rain cleared up just in time for the shoot to start) – these two has such great energy together.

I love the cheekiness of these images, the soft lace skirt with denim and lumo accessories really aids the fun feeling too. Shot in a hotel entrance on the Durban Point Waterfront development (We were chased off location by hotel security because we weren’t allowed to shoot in the area … hee hee)

I have had the pleasure of working with this gorgeous woman many times over the past three years. She never fails to inspire me creatively, she’s kind of my muse – thank you Sarah for putting up with me! hehe – hopefully we have many more interesting times together in the future.

…So whilst wedding season is fast approaching, I have decided to encourage my incredibly talented sister Jenna Hattingh, to pick up a camera and assist me behind the lens. Both of my sisters get dragged along to most of my shoots to assist with lighting. I can’t thank them enough for all the time and effort they give to my work.
